The Tournament of Crowns
For generations, rivalries were settled across the board.
Angels and demons brought chess to Atheryn, and its peoples made it the way to settle what would otherwise take a war. Every year the Tournament of Crowns celebrates that hard-won peace. At that table, orcs are famous for one thing: losing.
Until an overlooked orc strategist begins to understand the game differently, and starts winning. As competition gives way to conflicts far beyond the board, something is changing beneath the peace the tournament was created to celebrate.
